Very proud, very (mentally) tired

Very proud, very (mentally) tired 🎓

It took me longer than I expected but I finally got my Bachelors of Arts!

Tuesday was quite a day. Full of nervousness (thousands of people!) but also absolute happiness and joy at having completed this achievement and celebrating it with my loved ones. Also, I was the third last graduate in the line since my major started with a T 😆

Of course Murphy's Law was in full effect and things happened (the ties in my dress came apart and after the ceremony there were some time conflicts) but I guess that's what makes a day extra memorable 😅

Looking back I realize that I did not do it all alone. There were people (parents, teachers and others) who helped, guided and encouraged me throughout this period and for them I am thankful. These past 4.5years would've been impossible without them.

As for the dress. For some reason I didn't get good picture of my grad dress which considering how I spent the day prior meticulously sewing on the beads is a huge bummer. The last photo is the bow straps of the dress and the pearls I hand sewed to the ends.

I'm not sure what's next, but for now I'm taking it one day at a time.

The Primavera Quilt. When I decided to make a saw

The Primavera Quilt.

When I decided to make a sawtooth star quilt for my parents' anniversary I did not expect to have so much fun doing so. Or that I would be so proud of it.

This was my first big quilting project and I was nervous that it would be too challenging and hard but to my surprise it went by easier than expected. It helped that all the fabrics came from my stash (even the batting!) and that I was able to appropriate some of the dining room space to lay everything out 😅

I did end up hand quilting the whole thing which was a bit painful and on the slow side but so worth it.

Why Primavera? The colours reminded me of early spring. The rainstorms, the blue skies, sunny days and the white clouds (and receding snow). And it seemed befitting for my parents' anniversary last month.

Overall I loved it and I think I got the quilting bug! So watch out for more.

It is finished... After 4.5 years I'm finally don

It is finished...

After 4.5 years I'm finally done my Bachelors of Arts! Took me an extra semester but it was worth it. One Monday I sent in my last final and besides graduation next spring, I'm done.

This last semester was exciting and nerve-wracking, and I finally got to take a class that I've been wanting to take since my first year! That class stood out because not only was the subject fascinating but because now I'm thinking of doing a Master's in that topic?!? Or a M.Div at McGill??

For now I'm not sure what I'll be doing (I'm taking it one day at a time lol) but one thing is for sure is that I'm so ready for a break from school, lectures and essays 😅

To celebrate my last week of classes, my mom took me to Le Cheesecake Bar and we had the most delicious hot cocoa and sweets (hence the pics). Also peek the shacket I made last month.

Anyhow with Christmas arriving soon, what have you been up to lately? Have you experience the snow or been to Christmas-sy events?

A little autumn fun photo dump

Although we're still in fall, it's beginning to look a lot like Xmas and I realized I hadn't posted in a while. Whoops! So I thought why not post a little update of sorts.

This autumn was fun. Actually, beyond fun, it was exciting and pleasurabl. Even though I was working and studying, I still had way more free time than I did during the whole summer. So naturally I set out to complete my fall checklist.

•Hiking- A friend and I went to Mont Kaaikop and after doing the Tour Du Lac trail, we challenge ourselves (mainly me) to reach the top of the summit. It took a while and I thought I was going to pass out in the process but it was oh so worth it! Plus the fall colours were spectacular ✨️

•Apple Picking- What can I say? I'm basic, of course I was going to visit an apple orchard.

• Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch- This was my first time going to a corn maze in a decade (?!). It was super muddy and walking was a challenge but it was fun. Plus there was a super cute pumpkin-decorated shack and an animal farm.

• Baking- This season I didn't bake as much as I usual, but I did make lots of treats with the apples we picked and of course pumpkin pie! Probably one of my favorite desserts to make along with pumpkin puree cookies that are sweet, soft and and autumnal.

• Walks- Nothing compares to fall walks when there are a million shades of yellow, red and orange, and the air feels crisp and hopeful.

With this being my last semester, I've been feeling a stressed out (to say the least) and one thing that has helped is going out and enjoying the season.

Now that its currently snowing, I guess I'll go put up my Christmas tree 🎄
