Happy New Year! It is now 2019!
How was your Nouvelle Anne fête? I sincerely hope that it was filled with food, family and fun. Now that a new year has begun (2019!!!), it means it is time to plan the next year ahead to be able to get the most out of it possible. I’m a firm believer of planning ahead instead of just guessing along the way (but unfortunately sometimes I forget that)
Last year (last week really) I wrote a post on all of the achievements I had in 2018, both in my life and blog. After writing that post I decided to do one on my blogging plans for 2019. I don’t know about you but for me, if I don’t write out my plans/ideas in advance I will postpone, forget or ignore them altogether.
2018 was a big year for me and so I hope that 2019 will be the same if not better.

Plans for 2019
Blog
My main plans or goals for this year are:
- My main plan overall is to increase the number of posts I write in a month. Five would be an ideal number but it would take a lot of creativity, time and patience, and with school, it would be hard to achieve.
- So doing 3-4 post a month is more achievable for me. But overall all I want to write good quality content that engages readers and brings new ones.
- I would like to redo/modify Plaid & Sugar’s brand design. It would be a big undertaking for it would involve figuring out what would be the brand colours, fonts etc. But hopefully, I’ll be able to do it later this month, or March by the latest.
- Likewise, I would like to figure out what my niche is. I love sewing but I know that I don’t do enough of it to turn this into a sewing only blog. Same with baking. So maybe a lifestyle blog that includes my two aforementioned loves while also focusing on other matters such as reviews, fashion etc.
- I would like to reach 12 000 all-time views this year. I know that compared to some bloggers who get 10k views a month this goal is somewhat small, but hopefully, I’ll get there. Right now I’m at a considerably low number but slowly but surely.
- or to increase my traffic by 5% monthly. Again, nothing out of this world but enough that my readership would increase.
- Since I’ve been slowly growing Plaid & Sugar I’ve been thinking lately of monetizing this blog. Even if it was just $5/month it would be enough for some things:
- With monetization, I would be able to either buy my own domain name. So my blog could be plaidandsugar.com instead of .blogspot.ca
- I hope to start using Amazon Affiliates for the above point ↑ but I’m not sure how to go about it. But by sharing products that I have used and loved, Which include books (fiction, non-fiction), but especially sewing books that I’ve read, love and would recommend to beginners or intermediate.

For this new year, I have some plans/ideas I want to do but are not as important as the above points.
- One of my plans is to build up my mailing list and to use a real mail provider. Which I have no idea how to go about doing that, but I’m hopeful that it can be done.
- I would like to provide some printables for my readers, like quotes etc.
- Change my logo. It is from a Canva template, so I’d like something more original/unique.
- Grow my social media following and engagement. I would like to reach +500 followers this year.
- Attend a blogging event/conference/get together. I would love to meet other bloggers in my region or in my niche (whichever that may be). Do you know of any events in eastern Canada specifically Quebec?
So those are all my plans, goals and ideas for this brand new year. I hope that you’ll be there with me (and Plaid and Sugar) in this year and all that it will bring.
What are your (blogging/life) plans/goals for this year? Will you be writing a post on it? Have you attended any blogging events?
Til next time

If you want to grow traffic Pinterest is where it's at. I went from 20 viewers a month to 1000 a month in my first month of pinning blog posts to Pinterest using tailwind.
As far as Amazon affiliates, don't do it until you have a lot of traffic. They boot you for low sales, and if you get booted twice you're banned. You just can't have high sales without high traffic.
Your own domain is $20 a year. It's worth it! After networking with other bloggers I've learned that sponsored posts are where the real money is.
Good for you setting goals. It's the beginning of success!

Thanks for the info, Erica! I've been using Pinterest for a while and I actually haven't gotten that muff traffic. Now I'm thinking twice about using Amazon Affiliate, my traffic isn't that much but maybe in the future.
Now I'll have to figure out how to get brands/companies to sponsor me, but hopefully it will be easier with my own domain. Thanks!
Happy New Year!

Hi Lauren,
I think your goals are great!
If your traffic is increasing every month, you can actually start to work with brands.
My piece of advice, work with brands that you are passionate about. Something that you won't give up to try for the many no's until you get that one yes. And a few yes after that
Good luck for 2019 and looking forward to read your future posts!

Hi Ann, love your blog <3
Thanks for your encouragement!

I do hope that in the future I'll be able to work with brands I love but now I'm working increasing my traffic.
Thank so much for your words of encouragement!
