Hey guys!
I feel like it’s been soo long since I last wrote. I’ve barely had any time to write or just have any me-time overall. This past week I started university and it has been such a life change! I’ll finish a reading then bam! another book to read and the cycle goes on and on. I’ve been missing my blog so much the last couple of weeks since I haven’t had time for anything. My commute is very long and so I have decided that on my way back I should try to write.
On a positive note: I’m a university student! I can hardly believe it, it feels like yesterday I was starting high school and now I’m on the next chapter of my life. I’ve met new people and have been getting to know the campus and just getting used to the new part of my life. I have so many blog plans for the next couple of months and I can’t wait. Do you guys have any advice for a new university student? Must-dos and don’ts?
I know you must be wondering: doesn’t the title say mini review? Why doesn’t she just get on with it?
And so I will. I have been dealing with acne for many, many years. There are some good days and there are some bad, like really bad. I’ve tried many things that have worked and others that haven’t done anything. For the last couple of weeks, I’ve been worrying a lot, and lately since I started school my acne has been on a rampage.
*Though I got this product for free, the thoughts and opinions are my own and were not influenced by the company in any way, shape or form*
As you all know I’m part of Topbox Circle, a review company (if you don’t you can read this post) and I received the BIORÉ® DEEP PORE CHARCOAL CLEANSER to try. I was very excited to try this product (I mean, who doesn’t love free?) and couldn’t wait to try it.
And so I did.
BIORÉ® DEEP PORE CHARCOAL CLEANSER
I love how clean and good it smells right when you open it. When I was doing the questionnaire for the product I put in that I have oily skin and so they sent me the charcoal cleanser from their ‘don’t be dirty’ collection. The collection has many items that are geared towards those with oily-combination skin. The product I received promises to draw out and trap 2x the dirt than the other brands.
Though I was excited to try it I was also skeptical. It’s very easy to apply, just wet the face and take a bit and then massage unto the face until it disappears. For me, less than a full pump covered my whole face and more. Afterward just was the face and done! Two minutes max. I loved how it left my face so clean and smooth, but unfortunately, things started happening.
Three or so days after I started using the charcoal cleanser I noticed that my face started to break out. No big deal it happens, right? Well, it got worse. I had never seen my face break out so badly on both cheeks. It was ugly and embarrassing how I resembled my 13-year-old self. I think it must’ve been the cleanser since my routine didn’t change and was eating the same things as usual.
My mom told me that probably that is how the charcoal cleanser cleanses the skin. By trying to remove the impurities somehow by making the skin break out.
The pictures were taken about a week after my skin reacted to it. By then it had all mostly gone away, but the pictures don’t show how bad it really is.
Maybe, maybe, the cleanser had nothing to do with it and my body just decided to act weird. As I’m writing this post most of the acne has disappeared but I’m now thinking that I might be left with acne scars. *sigh* I will still be trying the cleanser and see what happens.
I give the product 4/5 because of the breakage but overall I did notice my skin was less oily and that, besides the acne touched cheeks, my skin was soft and smelled good. I also wonder if it was just me. Either way, that was not a great way to start at a new school.

What do you think? Have you tried the charcoal cleanser before? Have you ever had that happen to you? That a product will cause your skin to have a massive breakout.

Oh before I forget this is a project I finished about the same time my face started to break out.
Hopefully, by the next post, my acne will be no more.
Have a great weekend
