Happy New Year!
I hope everyone had a great holiday season and hope everyone fulfilled their year’s goals.
Not only is it a new year, but it is also a new decade! I can’t believe the 2010s are now over, and that it’s now 2020s, which means new goals and resolutions to make this the best year yet. There are many things I want to achieve this year both in my life and on the blog and so here is my annual “goals for x year” post!
*FYI, this post is a tad long
blog
-
Like always, my main goal is to consistently publish a post weekly. So about 3-5 posts per month would be ideal.
-
To get that many posts up in a month would require me to plan posts a month in advance which I am willing to do while also not forsaking quality which is a big priority of mine.
-
-
By the end of 2020 (can’t believe I’m writing this down) I would like Plaid + Sugar to reach 30,000 all-time blog views. Last year I reached 21k views and so it feels like it could be a reasonable goal for this year or, if not possible, have a 5% monthly view increase.
-
Maybe around 1500 views a month would be great, this number is quite low, as some bloggers get 5-8k views a month. But slowly but surely, I’ll get there one day.
-
-
I would like to make my first dollar, maybe even five, on this blog. Monetizing such a small blog is hard but I hope that P+S will make some money this year.
-
In 2018, I started using Shopstyle Collective and so far I have “made” $15 but since there is a $25 minimum amount to be able to get paid I am not counting this. Although if I got that amount, I could by my blog domain or maybe even switch hosts!
-
-
Along with that note, I would like to have a (financially) sponsored post with a brand/company in 2020.
-
This blog I promote on social media, so my goal is:
-
Most importantly, to have fun blogging and to meet more people through blogging.
Non-urgent/important plans:
-
This year I would like to get a new blog theme/template and transfer my comment system to Disqus. Although I really like this template by The October Studio, I would like on with a slide-show on the main page and with a multi-level menu.
-
Attend a blogger event/conference in Eastern Canada, specifically Quebec. I really would love to meet other bloggers in my city/region and how to improve my brand.
-
Improve my mailing list. It should be important but it is not my main priority at the moment. I’m still trying to figure out how to have a mailing list and what to do/share.
-
Join a PR agency, so that I am able to work with brands.
So those are my blogging goals and plans for this year.

life
As for my life plans, I do not have that many. This year hope to:
-
learn how to manage my time much more wisely, I’ve talked about it in the past, but I am prone to waste my time on my phone or just doing nothing. Time is precious and I’d like to enjoy every minute of it.
-
sew more. Last year I did not do that much sewing, although I did share a sewing tutorial for hair scrunchies so this year I would like to sew more. By learning how to manage my time, I’d be able to figure out and sit down what I would like to sew.
-
travel more. For most of you who do not know, I live in Montreal, Canada, which means that I live about 45minutes to an hour’s drive away from the United States. One of my heart’s desires has been to go to Joann’s craft store and to Hobby Lobby among other places, and so this year I would like to make the drive down to the U.S to get cheap(er) fabric, patterns, books, etc.
-
Last year I had the opportunity to go to Ottawa (Canada’s Capital) and to Quebec City (Oldest French settlement in North America) and so I hope to go back this year and take more pics!
-
-
be happy. In the last couple of years, I’ve learned (somewhat) how to live with depression and anxiety and although it is hard I hope to be able to manage it enough so that I can be happy.
And that’s it. All of my goals and plans for this new year, I hope that by the end of the year I have accomplished most of them.

These are great goals – I'm with you on monetising as I also want to go self-hosted. Also love the idea of going to a blogging conference – that's such a good idea!

Very nice goals! I think your blog goals are very achievable because this site looks great. I'm pretty sure that with a new url and seo you will make 30k a monthly number very soon.
Have a wonderful week 🙂

This has to be one of the most interesting goal posts ever. And there are blogging conferences!? How does one go about finding those? I'd so love to go to one. I think you'll be able to for sure hit 30k views this year. Also scheduling content is the ONLY way I know how to blog consistently. I have a folder for all my ideas, then when I have time, in the evenings or weekends I write the posts, sometimes one or three at time, then save them as drafts and schedule accordingly. My blog is schedule two months out and has around 18-20 drafts besides on average. So, technically I could schedule it four or five months out.
And traveling is an EPIC goal. I'm currently in Germany and loving it, though I think traveling only ever makes one love home more.

Most blogging events are either UK or US located which leaves me out.
Whoah, it's great that you schedule two months ahead! I always feel like I'm writing at the last minute, which is not great. Thanks for sharing this, I'll definitely try this out.

Thank you, Sonia for your kind words!
