One of the positive things about being in quarantine is all the “free” time we have. Time that we usually do not have, which means that we know have the time to be crafty, to learn a language, or to just relax.
During this time I’ve done some sewing, crafting, and used part of my time productively, but one of my issues as a craft person is that I’ll often feel overwhelmed with all the craft possibilities out there (looking at you Pinterest). Obviously, I’m not the only person who will feel stressed out or overwhelmed when faced with many options, and so I thought to make compilation/roundup post of some simple DIYs to do during this quarantine period.
DIYs & Crafts To Do During Quarantine Roundup
There are so many crafts to do that I hard time choosing! Thankfully on Twitter, I asked my followers what they’ve been up to craft-wise and some of them, which helped me decide what to add on this list.
In the end, I chose one a couple from different craft mediums (knitting, painting, etc), that way everyone would find something they love or that fits their abilities. If you want to see more crafts or sewing projects then check out my Pinterest for more inspiration.
Here we go!
Sewing: Cute Summer Top
This simple tutorial from The Essentials Club is perfect for summer. The weather is warming up (it was 30℃ yesterday!) and this would be ideal for this time of year.
It’s cute, light and very easy to make. Everyone will be complimenting your top and you can proudly say you made it!
Sewing: easy hair scrunchies tutorial
In the last year or so hair scrunchies came back into fashion, maybe it was nostalgia, or maybe its because it doesn’t pull at your hair and you can get one to match with your outfit.
With this tutorial, you will be able to make your own hair scrunchies in whatever fabric and style you want. They are easy to make and does not require a lot of material or time, they are also perfect for gift giving for the long-haired person in your life.

DIY: make your own sugar body scrubs
Who doesn’t want to have smooth, nice smelling skin? This skin scrub square tutorial may seem hard but it really isn’t.
Most of the ingredients can be found in your pantry and the sugar scrubs squares are the perfect birthday or Christmas presents for loved ones. The best part is that you can personalize them to your desire!
Knitting: learn to knit
One of my favorite hobbies is knitting. I love seeing how a ball of yarn can turn into a pair of gloves, a scarf, or a headband. It’s one of those hobbies that is perfect for relaxing and turning off your brain after a long day at work or school.
A great place to learn the craft are Good Knit Kisses, they have countless knitting tutorials for beginners on Youtube (which I used to learn) and Studio Knits, which have a collection of projects for both beginners and experienced knitters.
DIY: picture frame lantern
A while back while scrolling on Pinterest, I found this dollar store DIY and could not believe how easy (and cheap) it was.
This frame lantern DIY is so easy to make and it only requires a couple of picture frame which can be bought for $1-2 each at Dollarama or Dollartree! This picture frame lantern DIY would be a fun quarantine project.

Painting: modern abstract painting idea

For the painters and art lovers, this one is for you!
This painting tutorial from Harlow & Thistle is uncomplicated and it looks terrific. It just requires a canvas, tape, and paint, which can be found at the dollar store.
Painting: potato stamps

This might be a strange one, but it is a fun and easy craft to make (especially since everyone has potatoes at home) and all you need is a knife, potatoes (obviously), and paint.
This is would also be the ideal activity for making your own wrapping paper or decorating your wall.
Paint your wall

If you have a bare wall and have been wanting to paint it or do something special with it, then this is the time. There are so many useful tutorials on Pinterest on how to paint your wall, from ombre to faux geometric wallpaper (using a paint marker) to using a stencil to make your own wall patterns. The possibilities are endless.
Final Thoughts
Anyway, that is some of the craft tutorials and DIYs that I thought you would enjoy. Please let me know if I missed something or if you tried any of them.
Early in my blogging days, when I wanted to be a craft blogger, every once in awhile I would share a roundup post with my favorite sewing/craft projects, It has been years since I last posted one, and honestly, I enjoyed doing one. Maybe I’ll do more in the future? What do you think?
Have you done any DIYs or crafts during this period at home? Do you have a favorite?
Hasta la proxima

oh my, I love all of these! I definitely relate – with all this free time I've just wanted to craft, but been super overwhelmed with everything I *could* make and disappointed when I fall short. I completed my first sewing project though and have got a few DIYs up so at least its a start xx

These are some great idea! I know that since classes have ended that I've had so much free time to do what I want. Which have mostly consisted of playing video games, blogging, or watching K-Drama and C-Drama's. To be a little more creative, I've been knitting the Knit Beginner Blanket pattern from Knit Picks and painting a paint by number from the craft store and its been so much fun.
